Supply Chain Management Trainee

Overall Purpose of Role

The trainee will support the supply chain team in ensuring that goods are efficiently handled, stored, and distributed to customers across Kenya. They will gain hands-on experience in all key aspects of the supply chain, including logistics coordination, warehouse operations, inventory management, and distribution planning. The role also involves contributing to continuous process improvements, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting cost optimization across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with inbound goods receiving: ensure quantities and quality match the documentation and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Participate in inventory management: cycle counts, stock-takes, maintaining stock accuracy, managing stock levels, FIFO/LIFO/FEFO where applicable.
  • Assist in warehousing management: by organizing and labeling goods, ensuring storage conditions meet required standards, and maintaining proper layout, safety, and cleanliness. Ensure that all items are arranged and managed according to established inventory principles such as FIFO to maintain product quality, accuracy, and efficient stock rotation.
  • Support order fulfillment: by coordinating the picking, packing, and dispatch of customer orders, whether for retailers or direct consumers. This includes assisting in the generation of customer orders and invoices, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery in line with customer requirements.
  • Help in domestic transportation: arranging transport, tracking deliveries, optimizing route planning.
  • Assist in cost analysis: Assist in process improvement by identifying inefficiencies or gaps within supply chain operations including warehousing, logistics, and handling and supporting the implementation of revisions or corrective actions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall performance.
  • Data analytics & reporting: assist in generating supply chain KPIs (lead times, stock-out rates, inventory turnover, delivered costs), conducting root-cause analyses of delays or inefficiencies.

  • Collaborate across departments: Sales and commercial departments, finance and admin to ensure coordination and smooth flow of goods.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Internship or any prior exposure  to logistics, warehousing, inventory management, import-export procedures or retail is a plus.
  • CPA-K accreditation will be an added advantage
